About Recovery international

Recovery International

Recovery was founded in 1937 by Abraham Low,

M.D., a Chicago neuropsychiatrist. He found value in

peer support and believed that people could help themselves and each other. Recovery International teaches participants to apply Dr. Low's principles for acquiring self-leadership, overcoming the fear of nervous symptoms, and strengthening self-confidence. With the presentation of "examples" by other members

(using the four-step Method he developed), followed by "spotting" techniques, members seek and obtain the

help of fellow meeting participants and learn how to practice the Recovery International system

effectively.

Meeting Formats

No matter where you are located, you can find Recovery International meetings via Zoom, telephone, chat, and even in-person at some locations. While most meetings are based in the United States, Recovery International has affiliates in Canada, Ireland and India, as well as meetings in Puerto Rico. Check out the Recovery International website for a list of meetings:  Pre-Meeting Page - Recovery International

How much does it cost?

Free-will offerings are invited at meetings, with a suggested donation of $5 - $7 per meeting. However, donations are optional. Everyone is welcome, regardless of ability to pay. If you find the meetings helpful, spread the word to someone else who might benefit. We do have memberships for $40 year with additional benefits.  But we are here to help, regardless of your financial situation.
